Kevin Durant: Being cheered by Oracle Arena crowd ‘felt a little weird’

Kevin Durant Warriors

Kevin Durant got a taste of his new home playing for Team USA on Tuesday night, and he admitted that it was all a bit strange.

Team USA beat China 107-57 in an exhibition game at Oracle Arena, with Durant scoring 13 points in his new stomping grounds. The crowd gave him a standing ovation when he was introduced, and was greeted by cheers even when he emerged for warmups.

“It was amazing. The atmosphere was great, energy was great. The fans showed me major love, so I appreciate that,” Durant said, via CBS San Francisco. “It was good to get out there in front of them and play well.

“I’m not going to lie, it felt a little weird for these fans to be cheering me on like that obviously being somewhere for so long and then making a change.”

Durant is all about California now, as evidenced by this. He’ll be viewed as a villain by a lot of people elsewhere, but the Bay Area fans will doubtlessly have his back.
