Kevin Durant chimes in on costly Russell Westbrook technical foul

During the fourth quarter of the Thunder’s game against the Pacers on Sunday, Russell Westbrook was whistled for what could prove to be an extremely costly technical foul.

russell-westbrook-ed-malloyWestbrook was called for a foul after he collided with Luis Scola, who came to set a screen for George Hill. Upon reaching his feet, Westbrook had a few words for Ed Malloy, who hit him with a technical foul. It brings Westbrook’s technical foul total to 16 on the season, which means a suspension for Oklahoma City’s next game, unless it is rescinded.

Kevin Durant was apparently not in agreement with the decision to assess Westbrook a technical, as we can see by this tweet.

Oklahoma City’s playoff hopes are on life support with just two games remaining (against Blazers on Monday and Timberwolves on Wednesday). They have the same record as the Pelicans, who are currently in possession of the Western Conference’s eighth seed. However, not having Westbrook for one of those games could prove to be too much to overcome with Durant’s season already over, Serge Ibaka sidelined as well, and the Thunder being in must-win mode.

I would imagine there are more than a few Thunder fans who feel the same way Kevin Durant does.
