Kevin Durant fires back at critics of Warriors’ player-coach experiment
Kevin Durant has little sympathy for your criticisms of the Golden State Warriors’ recent player-coach experiment.
The team stirred up some outrage in a blowout win over Phoenix on Monday when head coach Steve Kerr let his players run the huddle during timeouts. Addressing reporters on Wednesday, Durant responded to the backlash.
“Everybody just loves to hate on the Warriors,” said the superstar forward, according to basketball writer Sean Highkin. “Whatever we do, they don’t want to just say they hate us, so they’re going to make excuses up on why they don’t like us or why it was disrespectful. Who gives a s—?”
Indeed, the experiment was criticized by many as disrespectful to the opposition, especially given the perceived talent gap between the Warriors and the Suns. But the defending champions are a team that thrives off all the controversy, as Durant himself continues to remind us.
