Kevin Ollie ‘seriously considered’ for Thunder job

Kevin Ollie

The Oklahoma City Thunder have not yet decided to part ways with Scott Brooks, but there are still plenty of indications they may plan to do so.

Last week Yahoo reported that the Thunder would be evaluating Brooks, who amid several key injuries missed the playoffs for the first time as OKC’s head coach. The report said Florida’s Billy Donovan and UConn’s Kevin Ollie could be candidates for the job if it becomes vacant.

Now another report says the same thing.

Adam Zagoria of SNY.tv reports that Ollie is being “seriously considered” for the Thunder job. Ollie played for the Thunder during his final NBA season in 2009-2010 and teamed with Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant. He is said to still have a strong relationship with Thunder GM Sam Presti.

Ollie filled the shoes of Jim Calhoun better than expected by leading UConn to the national championship in 2014. Last year he signed a five-year extension worth $15 million.
