Report: Kings willing to trade Rudy Gay

While the rest of the league is tripping over themselves to import talent at this advent of the 2016 free agency period, the Sacramento Kings seem to be trying like hell to export.

According to a report by Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee on Friday, there is a growing sense around the NBA that the Kings would be very willing to ship forward Rudy Gay out of town.

Gay, 29, averaged 17.2 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game, and 1.7 assists per game for the Kings in 2015-16. But in a league that fetishizes versatility, high-volume scoring forwards like Gay who are average defenders at best and don’t really make plays for teammates can find themselves dispensable.

The former No. 8 overall pick was said to be pushing for a trade out of Sacramento last February and may still have a decent market since guys who know how to put the ball in the basket will never go completely out of style.
