Klay Thompson thanks God ‘every day’ that Milwaukee passed on him

Klay Thompson

Klay Thompson is an NBA champion and All-Star for the Golden State Warriors. However, things could have been much different for him, and now he’s talk about how glad he is that things worked out the way they did.

The Warriors drafted Thompson eleventh overall in 2011. The Milwaukee Bucks held the tenth pick in that draft but made a three team trade that gave the rights to that pick to the Sacramento Kings. The Kings preferred Jimmer Fredette, allowing Thompson to fall to Golden State. Friday, Thompson talked about what could have been, and he’s not too upset about the way things worked out.

It’s hard to blame Thompson for saying this. He doesn’t appear to be taking unnecessary shots at the Bucks, but the truth is it’s highly unlikely Thompson would have won an NBA title in Milwaukee, and he certainly wouldn’t be playing next to the likes of Stephen Curry there. He’s simply found himself in a superior situation where he’s thrived, and he’s happy about that. Of course, the same cannot be said for the Bucks, which are 125-187 over the last four seasons.

Things didn’t work out much better for Jimmer Fredette either, as he is now trying to catch on with his fourth NBA organization in San Antonio, and hasn’t even been able to cement his place as a starter anywhere. Oh yeah, and compare Warriors fans to this sort of thing with Bucks fans. Yeah, there’s not much of a dispute about whether this was the best situation for Thompson.
