Klay Thompson says Warriors are better than Showtime Lakers

Klay Thompson

Watch out, pops, cuz Klay Thompson is coming for you.

After the Golden State Warriors ran the Cleveland Cavaliers out of the gym at Oracle Arena on Sunday night with a 110-77 win in Game 2 of the NBA Finals, Draymond Green was asked about a comparison between the Warriors and the “Showtime Lakers” of the ’80s. Though Draymond said it was too tough to compare them, Klay happily chimed in:

Of course Klay was more than willing to pop his chin up about that one because his father, Mychal, played for the Lakers from 1986-1991.

While this year’s Warriors team is on its way to going down as one of the best teams ever, they have a long ways to go in terms of matching the Lakers in the longevity department. The Lakers won at least 54 games in every season that decade, captured five titles and reached three more finals. Forgive me for expressing my skepticism over the Warriors’ ability to match that.
