Report: Knicks players in ‘open rebellion’ against triangle offense

Phil Jackson

Phil Jackson’s management sounds as unpopular among New York Knicks players as it is among their fanbase.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical, Knicks players are in “open rebellion” against the triangle offense favored by the team president, with players completely uninterested in the scheduled offseason triangle regimen.

Despite all this, Jackson remains committed to the triangle.

“To Phil, the culture is the triangle,” a league source said.

Knicks players are also extremely dissatisfied with some of the coaching, particularly that of Jackson-hired assistant Kurt Rambis. According to a source, Rambis offers yelling when players approach for coaching or teaching.

With all this going on, it’s easy to see why the cornerstone of the Knicks’ franchise booked it out of town rather than attend his exit meeting. No one seems able to curb Jackson’s worst instincts, and it may well be that they don’t move forward until he goes.
