Kobe Bryant shared a truly adorable story about his daughter during a recent interview.
Being called the “goat” in a sports context is one of the highest honors possible. G.O.A.T., of course, is an acronym for “Greatest of All Time.” Kobe has achieved goat-status in the eyes of many, only that doesn’t sound like an honor if you’re unfamiliar with the term. Such was the case for Kobe’s middle daughter, Gianna.
In an interview with South China Morning Post, Kobe talked about how a trip to Disneyland helped Gianna discover the other meaning of the term.
“It’s me, my wife [Vanessa], my eldest daughter Natalia and our middle child Gianna,” Kobe told the Post. “And fans throughout the park keep walking by me saying ‘you’re the GOAT, you’re the GOAT!’
“Finally, Gianna turns to one of them and shouts ‘how rude’. I asked her what was wrong, and she says, ‘they keep calling you a goat, that is so rude!’”
That’s when Kobe had to explain things to his adorably defensive daughter.
“Oh baby, I think they mean the Greatest Of All Time,” Bryant told her.
And that is how Gianna Bryant learned that people calling her father GOAT is actually quite an honor. Hopefully Diana Taurasi didn’t have the same reaction as Gianna when Kobe bestowed the name upon her.
