Kobe Bryant sets NBA career record for most missed field goals (Video)

Kobe BryantKobe Bryant has played his way into NBA history books for many great things, but he also worked his way in for a negative reason on Tuesday.

Bryant, 36, missed a shot in the fourth quarter against the Memphis Grizzlies to give him 13,418 career missed field goals, which is one more than John Havlicek. Bryant went 10-of-26 for 28 points in the 107-102 loss.

Given how much of a gunner Bryant is and how long he has played, it’s probably no surprise that he set this career mark. It’s very similar to a quarterback holding the career passing yards and incompletions mark — this is part of what happens with a scorer who loves to shoot.

Bryant’s quote on setting the record is hardly surprising.

“Well, I’m a shooting guard that’s played 19 years.”

Bryant still has the rest of this season and next to play, so there’s little doubt he’ll put a lot more space between him and Havlicek on the list before he’s done.

Kobe has led the league in points four times, field goals made three times, and field goal attempts six times during his career.
