Kobe Bryant: ‘A real competitor’ would not be intimidated by Warriors

Kobe-Bryant-Kevin-Durant

Kobe Bryant wouldn’t be scared of the Golden State Warriors, and he doesn’t think you should be either.

Bryant appeared on Thursday’s edition of “The Jim Rome Show” and said he was happy for Kevin Durant, but he wouldn’t be scared of him and his teammates.

“I was happy for him. This is something that he wants to do man, he’s happy with his decision,” Bryant said of Durant, via William Lou of theScore.

Don’t expect Bryant to buy all the whining about unfairness, though. He wouldn’t take part in any of it.

“As a competitor, I would have thought less about myself if I looked at that move and said, ‘That’s unfair,’ Bryant said. “If you’re a real competitor, you say, ‘OK, lace ’em up, let’s go. I don’t care how many players you have over there, we’ll still take you down.'”

That, in a nutshell, is why Bryant was so successful. If you’re scared of or intimidated by the Warriors or make any sort of excuses, you have already lost a key mental battle. It’s probably no coincidence that one of the best active players around is taking a similar approach to the Golden State juggernaut.
