Kobe Bryant has great response to Tyronn Lue block story

Tyronn Lue

Kobe Bryant had his typical Kobe response to the story Tyronn Lue shared with reporters on Tuesday.

Lue, who is now the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, was once teammates with Bryant on the Lakers. Lue recalled a time when he and some other reserves played the starters in a practice game. It was Lue teamed with guys like Devean George, Brian Shaw and Mark Madsen against a crew featuring Shaq and Kobe among others.

What happened from there is awesome.

“Long story short is, it was a game point and [Bryant] drove baseline and I was at the elbow. And he drove baseline and I went down the lane and I pinned his dunk against the glass,” Lue recalled. “He tried to dunk it and I blocked it against the glass. We came down, Devean George made a layup for game and Brian Shaw went, ‘Ahhh, he blocked you!’ He went crazy. Kobe wanted to fight me at first and then, second, he wanted to play one-on-one after practice.”

Tell me you can’t picture that. Kobe just going ballistic over a lesser player like Lue blocking his shot is all too predictable.

Of course, when Kobe was presented with the story prior to Wednesday’s Lakers-Cavs game, he had his typical trash-talking response.

Given Kobe’s competitive nature, there was no way he’d give credit to someone like Lue for that. No way at all.
