Kristaps Porzingis admits he is ‘so tired’ after loss to Wizards

Kristaps Porzingis

New York Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis appears to be feeling some burnout less than halfway through the NBA season.

After the Knicks lost to the Washington Wizards on Wednesday by the final of 121-103, Porzingis admitted to feeling fatigued, both physically and mentally.

“I’m tired, I’m tired, I’m so tired right now,” said the Latvian, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post. “I have one day to rest my legs and get back and play better and have more energy and try to bring the team’s energy up. We’re in a tough stretch. The mental part doesn’t help at all. When it’s mentally tough, you don’t have it in you.”

Porzingis finished with 16 points on 5-of-13 from the field in the loss, including just two points in the second half. He is seeing by far the highest usage of his career this season, and his responsibility has only grown lately with second-leading scorer Tim Hardaway Jr. sidelined by a leg injury.

The 22-year-old had previously hinted at a bit of a nagging injury issue, which could be a factor in his recent struggles. But in any case, Porzingis’ comments are not exactly ideal with three months of the season still left to be played.
