Kristaps Porzingis jokes about awful shooting night
Kristaps Porzingis had a game to forget on Thursday against the Boston Celtics, but he at least managed to keep the mood light afterwards.
In his first game back after suffering a knee injury last week, the New York Knicks star went a whopping 0-of-11 from the field and scored just one point. He also was held to 23 minutes due to foul trouble. The Knicks got the 102-93 win however, and Porzingis spoke on his lousy night with reporters postgame.
“Thanks to me the game was close,” said the Latvian, per ESPN. “I kept it close. Otherwise, I think we should have won by a bigger difference if I had a better game and I would have made some shots in the first half.
“It’s just one of those nights where nothing goes in,” he added. “Kobe says, ‘You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.’ Today I missed all 100.”
Porzingis’ output was obviously well below his season averages of 25.5 points per game and 46.5 percent from the field. But fortunately, he was bailed out by one of his fellow Knicks on Thursday and then some.
