Kristaps Porzingis on Carmelo Anthony: ‘We need him’

Carmelo-Anthony-hat

Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis would hate to see Carmelo Anthony leave the team and really hopes the forward will not do so.

There has been a lot of talk surrounding ‘Melo’s future in New York as the Knicks struggle through another season without a playoff berth. ‘Melo himself has said recently he is not sure about his future in New York. Porzingis is hoping Anthony will turn that into something more definitive.

“Obviously I want him to stay here. We need him. I need him,” Porzingis told the New York Daily News. “And we don’t want to lose him.

“I need him, No. 1, to learn from him. And to win. We need him to win. Without him it would be much more difficult. Him leaving would be tough but I’m not worried about that, I don’t think it’s going that way. He’s been loyal. I think he loves New York. And that’s the most important thing.”

Porzingis’ opinion and comments make sense; the Knicks are 0-7 this season without Anthony in the lineup, and they’ve been pretty terrible overall in games without him. But with the Knicks now 30-44 after a loss Saturday to the Cavaliers, Anthony may be weighing his future options more than ever. He recently supported the idea of playing with LeBron James on a super team. The Knicks better hope that dream does not become a reality for another franchise.
