Kyrie Irving: LeBron James’ tweets were not about me

Kyrie Irving LeBron James

Kyrie Irving says he does not think LeBron James’ ambiguous tweets sent this month were about him.

Earlier this month James turned heads by sending out a series of cryptic tweets, which many interpreted as being passive aggressive shots at teammates. Some thought they could have been directed towards Irving in response to this story. Not so, says Irving.

“I don’t really check Twitter for people’s comments or what they’re saying or anything like that,” Irving told ESPN.com’s Dave McMenamin. “I didn’t think it was directed toward me at all. I know everybody made a big deal about it and then I tweet and then all of the sudden it’s a subtle beef between me and Bron. No, I don’t think Bron tweets for me and I don’t think I tweet for LeBron.”

Hmm, Kyrie doesn’t “think” he tweets for LeBron? Does that mean he’s uncertain? That’s not exactly a definitive statement.

Still, we’ll take Irving at his word and figure James’ tweets weren’t about the Cavs’ point guard.

The Cavs seem to have responded well to James’ tweets as they have won four of their last five, including Wednesday’s victory over Dallas. James has toned down the social media activity since the tweeting barrage. Maybe the talking-to he received from the team’s GM has something to do with it.
