Kyrie Irving says his life ‘changed drastically’ since Finals-winning shot
Kyrie Irving was something of the quieter story in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ NBA Finals win, but it was a lifechanging experience for him as well.
Irving told Joe Vardon of cleveland.com that his life had changed after making the massive shot.
“Yes, my life’s changed drastically,” Irving said Saturday. “It’s kind of, you’re waiting for that validation from everyone, I guess, to be considered one of the top players in the league at the highest stage. That kind of changed. I was just trying to earn everyone’s respect as much as I could.”
It’s an interesting perspective, as Irving is viewed as the second banana to LeBron James. He’s gained confidence in other ways, too. You wonder if, having really established himself with a shot like that, he’ll carry a newfound confidence into the new season.
