Kyrie Irving responds to ‘white girls’ yacht party comments

Kyrie Irving took a lot of heat on social media Friday for supposedly throwing a party on a yacht in the Bahamas that seemed to feature only white women on the boat. The Cleveland Cavaliers point guard decided to respond a day later and set the record straight.

Kyrie shared a photo on Instagram Saturday that showed him as a part of a group of seven at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas. His caption included, “All different shades” and a hashtag “#Tryadifferentstory.”

All different shades seemed to be a comment about the race/color of his traveling party, while the “tryadifferentstory” hashtag appeared to be a shot at the media.

Some outlets described it as a “milk” party while others pointed out the party was “full of white women.”

Clearly he saw all that and that Instagram post was his response.

We didn’t really think the comments from people were necessarily fair because they were based on one 30-second video (watch here). Just because one 30-second video from only one part of the boat shows a lot of white women doesn’t mean that’s how the whole thing was nor that it was done intentionally.
