Report: Lakers still trying to trade Nick Young, have considered buyout
Nick Young doesn’t sound like he’ll get much of a chance to repair his relationship with D’Angelo Russell.
Bleacher Report’s Kevin Ding said Tuesday that the Lakers are still trying to trade Young, and have even considered buying him out of his contract and committing to a full-scale youth movement.
“I would frankly be surprised if Nick Young is on the Lakers’ roster at the start of the season,” Ding said. “They’ve been trying to trade him for a while. They’re still trying to trade him. They are willing to even buy him out if necessary to move on and really commit to the youth movement and let D’Angelo Russell do his thing.”
With the Lakers poised for another rebuilding year, the flamboyant 31-year-old seems pretty superfluous to what they’re trying to do. The trade rumors are nothing new. Though Young wants to work it out with the team’s point guard of the future, it doesn’t sound like the Lakers care.
