Report: Lamar Odom likely to eventually sign with Clippers
Yahoo! Sports’ Marc J. Spears reported that Odom met with the Clippers at the team’s facilities for two hours following practice on Friday. ESPN’s Marc Stein followed up on that report, confirming that Odom met with the team. Stein said both sides have “serious interest” in making a reunion official.
“I wouldn’t say a deal [with the Clippers] is imminent, but I’d be surprised if it doesn’t happen,” a source told Stein.
Odom, 34, played for the Clippers last season. He’s had a tumultuous offseason where he made headlines for supposedly being hooked on crack and for having marital problems with wife Khloe Kardashian.
ESPN says Odom has been working out the past month and is ahead of schedule in terms of getting back into basketball shape. Odom supposedly is targeting a return in the second half of the season.
The report does not come as a surprise; earlier this week we shared a report saying both the Lakers and Clippers were interested in Odom. It’s truly amazing that they wouldn’t mind adding him after all he went through. And what would be even more mind-boggling is if he manages to pass all the drug tests.
Odom averaged 4 points and nearly 6 rebounds in almost 20 minutes per game last season with the Clips. The Clippers currently have a roster spot open.
