LeBron James, Chris Bosh downplay Carmelo Anthony to Heat talk

Carmelo Anthony LeBron JamesLeBron James and Chris Bosh downplayed all the talk about Carmelo Anthony leaving the Knicks for the Heat to turn the Big 3 into the Big 4 in Miami this offseason.

Both players were asked about the scenario prior to Game 4 of the NBA Finals Thursday. Bosh handicapped the scenario and did not give a very positive outlook.

“It’s very, very unlikely,” Bosh said to The Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, according to ESPN’s Michael Wallace.

LeBron opted for the head buried in sand routine.

“Obviously Melo has his own decision to make,” James said per the Sun Sentinel’s Ira Winderman. “Obviously it hasn’t crossed my mind at this point of the season.”

I have no doubt that LeBron is much more focused on the NBA Finals than the Heat’s offseason plans. And maybe he’s not even thinking about ‘Melo right now. I can buy that. But don’t tell me they haven’t talked about it in the past. Maybe LeBron just doesn’t want to feed the rumor, which is probably the more likely scenario.

As I said before, I could easily see LeBron and Bosh being unselfish enough to go along with this wild plan. My questions are whether Dwyane Wade and, more importantly, Carmelo, would go along with it. It certainly would make the Heat a heck of a team if they could land Anthony, and I certainly think the possibility is realistic.
