LeBron James covering Dahntay Jones’ groin punch fine

LeBron James

Cavaliers reserve Dahntay Jones may be suspended for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals for a groin shot on Bismack Biyombo, but he won’t have to worry about the associated fine. LeBron James will be handling that.

James told the media that he’d be “taking care” of Jones’ fine, via Cleveland.com’s Joe Vardon, which will amount to $80. Jones was signed just before the end of the season, so the $8,800 salary he is on minimizes his fine. Jones maintains that the contact was incidental, but the NBA saw it differently.

You can see the incident Jones was suspended for here. James got hit above the shoulders by Biyombo earlier in the game, so perhaps paying Jones’s fine is a way for James to say thank you for exacting a measure of revenge.
