LeBron James won’t say he mentally owns Raptors

LeBron James bald

LeBron James had an awesome game on Thursday to help his Cleveland Cavaliers take a 2-0 series lead against the Toronto Raptors, which perpetuated a popular postseason narrative.

The narrative, according to some believers, is that LeBron just owns the Toronto Raptors in the playoffs and has a mental edge over them. After he scored 43 points with 8 rebounds and 14 assists in a 128-110 road win in Game 2, it’s hard to disagree with that thought.

James was asked about having the mental edge against Toronto in the postseason and deflected in his response.

“You guys can have that narrative on how you guys feel about that mental edge or whatever the case may be. For me personally, my mental edge is how I prepare myself every night … how I go about the game plan, trying to not make mistakes. And if I do make mistakes, making sure I don’t do it again,” James said after the game.

LeBron’s Cavs have eliminated the Raptors from the postseason two years in a row and are looking to make it three. Two years ago the teams met in the conference finals, while this is the second year in a row they’re meeting in the conference semis.

Toronto looked to be in good shape to turn their fortunes this time around, but the Cavs stole Game 1 and then blew out the Raptors in Game 2. If they get the sweep at home, the Raptors could be demoralized.
