LeBron James to re-sign with Cavs on three-year, $100 million deal

LeBron-James

The King’s Court is officially back in session.

According to a report by Brian Windhorst of ESPN on Thursday, LeBron James has agreed to re-sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers on a three-year, $100 million deal. He is set to make $31 million next season, which will make him the highest-paid player in the NBA for the first time in his career. James’ $33 million-plus salary for the 2017-18 season will also be the largest single-season salary in league history.

ESPN’s Chris Broussard adds that James’ new deal includes a player option for Year 3.

James’ return to Cleveland was all but a foregone conclusion as he caps off quite the impressive summer after leading the Cavaliers to their first championship in franchise history. Not only has James been living large in merchandising and victory speeches these last couple of months, but now he has the dollar figures to further cement himself as master and commander of the basketball universe as well. It’s good to be The King.
