LeBron James tweaking shot to halt shooting slump

LeBron James

LeBron James has been stuffing the stat sheet as usual this season, but if you look at the underlying numbers, something isn’t right, and he knows it.

Despite his 25 points per game, James has shot an uncharacteristically low 19.4 percent from three point range and 62.3 percent from the free throw line. Considering he’s usually between 35 and 40 percent from three and in the low-to-mid 70s on free throws, something’s a bit off.

James knew it, too, so he went back and looked at film and adjusted accordingly.

“I think I started off not too well from the line and I found what I’m comfortable with,” James said on Friday, via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “I had to go back and watch some old film, when I was very consistent at the line, and I feel like I’m in a good place right now.”

James chalked his three point issues up to just being “out of rhythm.” It would be silly to draw conclusions based on such a small sample size anyway, so James’s shooting will probably stabilize as time goes on. It may have already started to. It’s probably just a slow start. Either that or sleeved jerseys.
