Lonzo Ball says Lakers-Clippers rivalry is now even
While most on the LA Lakers seek to delegitimize the idea of a crosstown rivalry with the LA Clippers, star rookie Lonzo Ball is doing the exact opposite.
Ball was asked on Thursday about the Lakers’ Opening Night matchup against the Clippers and said it didn’t even used to be a battle but now the Clippers have pulled even, per Serena Winters of Lakers Nation.
Lonzo on how there didn't used to be a Lakers/Clippers LA battle: "Over the years, the Clippers definitely stepped it up, & now it’s even." https://t.co/ammCKBhsmx

It’s true the Clippers have utterly dominated the Lakers over the last several years, both in terms of win-loss record and in head-to-head play (as one prominent member of their camp would certainly agree). But the Lakers’ total supremacy over their first 30 or so years of sharing the city with the Clippers did not just go away, nor did their 16 titles (11 of which came in Los Angeles). Thus, this sounds like Ball treating the Staples Center opposition with all due respect more than anything, as LA will probably always remain a Lakers city.
