Luis Scola isn’t a fan of the rent prices in New York

Moving to New York City can be a major culture shock for many, but it’s the cost of living that does the trick for new Nets power forward Luis Scola.

In an interview with Marc Berman of the New York Post on Thursday, Scola opened up about his excitement to live in New York but singled out the rent prices as the one fly in the ointment.

“I think New York is one of the best cities in the world — a lot of people question New York. They love to visit but not to live,” Scola said. “I’m excited. I like to live there, too, but I don’t like the renting prices.”

As of June 2016, the average apartment rent in New York City is $3,262 a month, per RentJungle.com. That compares with $1,339 a month in Toronto, where Scola played last season, as well as $863 a month in Indianapolis, $1,062 a month in Phoenix, and $1,406 a month in Houston, Scola’s three prior NBA stops.

The 36-year-old Argentinian big man signed a one-year, $5.5 million deal with Brooklyn earlier this month. Hopefully, the concrete jungle where dreams are made of treats Scola better than a Derek Fisher elbow.
