The Minnesota Lynx remembered victims of two police shootings earlier in the week on Saturday.

On Tuesday, Alton Sterling was shot while being held on the ground by police outside of a convenience store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A day later, Philando Castile was killed by an officer in Minnesota during a traffic stop. Prior to their game against the Wings, members of the Lynx wore shirts during warmups in remembrance of both men.

The phrases “Change Starts With Us” and “Justice and Accountability” appeared on the front. The back contained the names of both Sterling and Castile as well as the shield for the Dallas Police Department. Five Dallas police officers were killed on Thursday, the result of an attack carried out by a man during a protest. “Black Lives Matter” is at the bottom.

A powerful message by Carmelo Anthony appeared on the back page of the New York Daily News, urging fellow athletes to step up, take charge, and demand change.

The Lynx have certainly done that.
