Marcus Smart has great quote about Brad Stevens drawing up plays
Brad Stevens has proven himself as one of the best coaches in the NBA with the job he has done in Boston this season, but even some Celtics players question his methods at times. From the sound of it, those questions are answered rather quickly.
Celtics point guard Marcus Smart, who was instrumental in the team’s Game 2 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, admitted on Thursday that he is sometimes puzzled over the plays Stevens draws up. But, according to Smart, they always seem to work.
Marcus Smart on Brad Stevens’ play calling: “Some of the plays he draws up you go, ‘Ehhh, I don’t know if that’s going to work.’ Then it does and it’s like, ‘Sorry I ever doubted you.’”

Boston somehow has a 2-0 Eastern Conference Finals lead over the LeBron James-led Cavs despite being without Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward. Stevens is the biggest reason for that, and he has already drawn comparisons to Gregg Popovich for how good of an X’s and O’s coach he is. The 41-year-old recently indicated that he is uncomfortable with all the praise he has received, but he’s earned every bit of it.
