Report: Markieff Morris suspended two games for throwing towel at Jeff Hornacek
The Phoenix Suns have reportedly suspended Markieff Morris two games for throwing a towel at coach Jeff Hornacek.
Sources told Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports that Morris claimed there was no intent involved in the towel toss. Morris also stated that he was unaware that Hornacek had been struck in the leg by the airborne towel until told by teammates. Hornacek responded by flinging the towel back at Morris.
The incident occurred during the fourth quarter of Phoenix’s 104-96 defeat to Denver.
Sources told Yahoo that Phoenix has begun exploring trade scenarios for Morris, but their asking price has put off potential suitors, as has his benching and now suspension.
The towel bombardment will prove costly for Morris. The two game ban will cost him $145,455 in salary, not to mention the damage already done to his reputation and relationships with his coach and teammates.
