Metta World Peace signs with Lakers, will join them for training camp

Metta World Peace Lakers

As expected, Metta World Peace is back with the Lakers.

Metta signed a one-year, non-guaranteed deal with the Lakers according to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The forward will join the team at its training camp in Hawaii next week.

World Peace has not played in the NBA since the Knicks waived him last year. He spent last season abroad, playing in both China and Italy.

World Peace will be 36 in November and looked upon to provide veteran leadership for the team. He spent four seasons with the Lakers from 2009-2013, averaging 12.4 points per game in his final season with the franchise, and will be reunited with friend Kobe Bryant.

Metta had been working out with the Lakers over the summer and his signing was imminent. Though he may be the only one who thinks it, he believes he is still one of the best small forwards in the world.
