Miami fans set up GoFundMe to pay Dwyane Wade

Dwyane Wade

Dwyane Wade’s flirtations with other teams have become serious enough that Miami Heat fans are fearing that the franchise icon may actually leave. They’re not going to let that happen without a fight.

A group of Heat fans have set up PayWade.com, as well as an associated GoFundMe with a stated goal of raising $10 million to tack on to the reported $10 million offer the Heat gave Wade.

“If the team won’t pay him, we the fans will! Since their offer of $10 million is clearly not enough, let’s match it and get him to $20 million,” the GoFundMe states.

The fans do realize that raising money to pay a player’s salary is almost certainly against NBA rules, so they have pledged to donate whatever funds they raise to Wade’s charity organization, the Wade’s World Foundation.

Wade has spoken to at least two teams about contracts and sounds serious about entertaining the possibility of leaving Miami. It’s safe to say Heat fans will not be happy at all if Wade bolts Miami because the organization lowballed him.
