Michael Jordan makes Forbes’ billionaires list once again

Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan is still a billionaire, at least according to Forbes.

Last year, Jordan appeared on Forbes’ annual billionaires list for the first time. He has apparently been wise with his fortune over the past 12 months, as the six-time NBA champion held onto his spot among the world’s elite.

Jordan’s net worth is estimated at $1.14 billion and he ranks as the 1,577th-richest person in the world and 486th-richest American. He moved up from his spot of 1,741st last year.

Forbes notes that Nike earns $2 billion in revenue annually from Jordan’s brand, which represents more than half of Nike’s stake in the basketball shoe market. His Airness also still has lucrative endorsement deals with Gatorade, Hanes and Upper Deck in addition to owning seven restaurants and a car dealership. Jordan owns 90 percent of the Charlotte Hornets, and his stake is estimated to be worth around $500 million.

Jordan remains the only former athlete on Forbes’ billionaire list. We can probably guess who the next one will be.
