Report: Mike Woodson interested in Indiana head coaching job

Mike Woodson reaction

The Indiana Hoosiers men’s basketball program now has a head coaching vacancy to fill, and one somewhat prominent NBA name is eyeing the gig.

According to a report by Jeff Goodman of ESPN on Thursday, LA Clippers assistant coach Mike Woodson has a “high level of interest” in the Indiana job.

The connection is obvious — Woodson is an Indiana native and was a four-year standout with the Hoosiers during his playing days in college. But he doesn’t have any experience coaching at the collegiate level and has been underwhelming at the NBA level with a career record of 315-365 (.463) in nine seasons as a head coach.

Following Thursday’s dismissal of Tom Crean after nine seasons of his own at the helm of Indiana, the job should attract plenty of other interest, so perhaps the Hoosiers will be able to find a more qualified candidate.
