Montrezl Harrell’s social media activity indicates he wants more playing time

The Houston Rockets are on the verge of being eliminated from the postseason, and it seems like Montrezl Harrell believes he could help the team avoid it if he receives more playing time.

Harrell has played just 13 minutes in the five Western Conference semifinal games the Rockets have had against the San Antonio Spurs. He sat out two games altogether, and those happened to be the two that were most competitive. Following Houston’s 110-107 loss in Game 5 Tuesday night, Harrell liked an interesting series of tweets.

As Dan Feldman of Pro Basketball Talk notes, Harrell’s size (6-foot-8) and style of play make him a poor matchup against the Spurs. He would have no shot against San Antonio’s front court players, and his perimeter game likely wouldn’t be much help. It’s doubtful that playing Harrell more would be the difference in having a lead in the series versus being down 3-2.

On the bright side, at least Harrell recently received an awesome gift from James Harden. His time in Houston hasn’t been all bad, though he doesn’t seem thrilled with his role at the moment.
