Mychal Thompson watched wrestling instead of Game 7

Mychal Thompson

The Warriors capped of their improbable comeback from a 3-1 deficit in the Western Conference Finals to advance to the NBA Finals thanks to a 96-88 victory over the Thunder on Monday. Golden State became the 10th team in league history to overcome such a deficit, but the clinching game wasn’t seen by the father of one of the Warriors because he was watching wrestling instead.

Mychal Thompson, father of Klay, said on his radio show Tuesday he couldn’t bring himself to watch Game 7 because of how nervous he was. So, while his son and the Warriors were doing battle with the Thunder, Mychal watched “Monday Night Raw.”

Upon finding out the final result, Thompson said he almost felt like Joe Lacob, who bowed down to Klay Thompson following Golden State’s win in Game 6.

Mychal Thompson won back-to-back championships with the Lakers so he certainly knows what it feels like to go for two in a row like his son currently is. However, playing in the games is much different than watching your son play in them, making his level of nervousness and anxiety understandable. Hopefully, it was a good episode of “Raw.”

With the Warriors surviving their series with the Thunder, they are now just four wins away from Klay and Mychal being able to share a pretty cool father-son feat.
