NBA sells out of Kristaps Porzingis jerseys

Kristaps Porzingis Knicks

At this point, 20-year-old Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis may actually be hotter than sliced bread. With putback dunks so thunderous that entire nations bow at his feet, buzzer-beaters so godly that they refuse to subscribe to the laws of time and space, and physical measurements so silly you’d think he was a character in a Lewis Carroll novel, the Latvian is taking the NBA by storm. Everybody and their brother wants a piece of this kid, and now even the NBA merchandising department is having a difficult time keeping up with the legend of the Porzingod.

According to business reporter Darren Rovell of ESPN on Thursday, the league has officially sold out of Porzingis Knicks jerseys and will have a new stock in by Friday.

What in the name of Linsanity is going on here?

While the NBA’s chronic Porzingis merch shortage might have something to do with a smaller stock for rookies, especially a rookie who was almost a complete unknown before the draft, it’s a testament to how unbelievable the 7-foot-3 big man has been in the first month of his NBA career. Porzingis’ counting stats have been impressive, but even more so has been his energy on the glass, his defense, and his hustle, especially given the prevailing stereotypes surrounding young European players.

The NBA better get that new shipment of jerseys in soon. Because if Porzingis keeps up this torrid pace, I may just have to buy a boatload of them for myself.
