NBA put a stop to John Wall’s turnover fines

John Wall won’t be paying up for his turnovers after all.

Before the season, Wall divulged that as incentive for limiting his turnovers, Wall would pay assistant coach Howard Eisley $100 for every game he turned the ball over three or more times. However, the NBA heard about it and stepped in.

“They squashed that early in the season,” Wall told CSNmidatlantic.com on Friday. “The called us. I guess it’s betting. (They said) it’s league protocol.”

Seems like an odd definition of betting, but the rules are the rules.

Perhaps this is better off for Wall. He’s played in 33 games this year and had three or more turnovers in 26 of them, so the league saved him $2,600 with their intervention. In fact, Wall’s turnovers per game have actually risen to a career-worst 4.3 after sitting at 3.8 last season. Perhaps Eisley and Wall should work on an alternative.
