Nerlens Noel to undergo minor knee surgery

Nerlens Noel Sixers

Nerlens Noel will once again have a season affected by injury.

The Philadelphia 76ers announced on Friday that Noel will undergo minor surgery on his left knee after reporting soreness in it.

Here’s what the Sixers said about Noel:

During the normal course of evaluation and treatment for his left adductor strain, which was identified on October 6, Noel reported localized soreness in his left knee. After consulting with multiple specialists, the source of the soreness was identified as inflamed plica. Noel has elected to address the injury via a minor surgical procedure in the coming days.

Noel was already set to miss the Sixers’ opener with a groin injury, and now he will just be out longer.

A former No. 6 overall pick in 2013, Noel missed all of his rookie season and was sidelined 22 games over the past two seasons combined. It looks like he will have another season where he misses games. Between this and Ben Simmons’ injury, this is not what Philly was hoping for to start the year.
