Old Dwyane Wade tweets are amusing given departure

It wasn’t until a few days ago that many observers started to really take the chatter of Dwyane Wade leaving the Miami Heat seriously. After all, the longtime Heat guard threatened last year to leave the team before owner Micky Arison intervened and worked out a one-year, $20 million contract for the franchise icon. Who was to say that Wade wasn’t just pulling the same old leverage card by flirting with other teams the past few weeks in order to get the Heat to increase their contract offer to him this time around?

Wade made it official on Wednesday by announcing he was signing with the Chicago Bulls, his hometown team. As is often the case these days, folks have been digging up old tweets to see how they look in light of today’s events.

Here is a tweet Wade sent in 2012 about loyalty when Dwight Howard was in the middle of his back-and-forth dance about leaving Orlando:

This was sent in 2010 about Chicago:

Recall that Wade said in 2012 that he was extremely close to signing with the Bulls in 2010.

Then there’s this tweet Wade sent on July 4, the day Kevin Durant announced his news:

Was Wade talking about his relationship with the Heat’s front office, Durant’s relationships with the Warriors/Thunder, or something else? Wade’s relationship with the Heat deteriorated, leading him to leave.

Like I said, the tweets are amusing given what he did on Wednesday.
