Paul George calls out struggling Pacers: ‘There’s no toughness’

Paul George Kobe Bryant

The Indiana Pacers lost to the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday night, and Paul George was not happy with the team’s performance.

The Pacers are just 31-28 and 5-5 in their last 10, and George, for one, doesn’t think the team is tough enough.

“We don’t have no toughness,” George said, via Nate Taylor of the Indianapolis Star. “There’s no toughness. If you look at playoff teams and teams one through eight, that’s one thing that every team has in common. That’s what we’ve got to find.”

George also appeared frustrated with the team’s strategy and repeated tactical mistakes.

“We’re struggling against spread teams tremendously,” George said. “We’ve been beat every single time the same way. We let a team that we know is hot get hot from the 3-point line. They spread us out and they do what they want with us.”

As good as George has been for most of the season, it’s fair to say that the Pacers likely anticipated that they’d be doing better than they actually are. It’s likely just a bit of frustration boiling over, as it did for George at a different target earlier in the season.
