Phil Jackson congratulates Warriors on 72 wins, tells them to get No. 73
The Golden State Warriors’ pursuit of 73 wins has now been blessed by the Zen Master himself.
Knicks president Phil Jackson took to Twitter on Monday to congratulate the Warriors on earning their single season record-tying 72nd win by defeating the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday night and proceeded to tell them to go break the record by getting win No. 73.
Way-to-Go!! Congrats to GSt Warriors,SKerr&LWalton et al. The journey to 72 wins is a remarkable achievement-very impressive-now get #73.

Jackson was, of course, the head coach of the Chicago Bulls team that originally set the record in the 1995-96 season.
The 11-ringed basketball extraordinaire hasn’t always sang the Warriors’ praises on social media in the past. Jackson caused the Twitter pitchforks to come out in February with an ill-conceived comparison of league MVP Stephen Curry to the legendary Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf. He also wrote himself into meme mythology last year by subtly criticizing jump shot-oriented teams like the Warriors in his notorious “How’s it goink?” tweet.
But Jackson knows firsthand the amount of talent, endurance, and fortitude that it takes to even sniff that wins plateau in a single NBA regular season. That’s why both he and his former Bulls players (well, except for one) are happy to slide over on the couch to make room for the 2015-16 Dubs.
