Pistons reportedly interested in Chauncey Billups for front office role
Chauncey Billups was one of the candidates being considered for the Cleveland Cavaliers’ general manager job last summer before he withdrew his name from consideration, and it sounds like the former NBA point guard could end up joining the front office of a team he used to play for instead.
Marc Stein of the New York Times reported on Tuesday that the Detroit Pistons are interested in hiring Billups to join their basketball operations department.
Detroit has expressed interest in hiring the former Pistons star Chauncey Billups to work in tandem with Arn Tellem in a totally revamped front office, according to league sources

Billups played for the Pistons from 2002-2008 and returned to Detroit to finish his NBA career in 2013 and 2014. He was named the NBA Finals MVP when the Pistons won a championship in 2004, and the team retired his No. 1 jersey during a ceremony in February 2016.
The Pistons are quickly fading from playoff contention after losing 13 of their last 17 games, but the future of the franchise looks bright with a frontcourt that features Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond. We know Billups has interest in a front office role from his dealings with the Cavs, though those negotiations seemed to end when Cleveland made an embarrassing offer to the 41-year-old. Perhaps he has a stronger relationship with the Pistons that will help the two sides come to an agreement.
