Rajon Rondo facing suspension after bumping referee (Video)

If you were like me and wondering how in the world the Celtics were considering trading Rajon Rondo, you got your answer on Sunday. The guy is said to be difficult to deal with, and he proved he lacks restraint when he bumped a referee during Game 1 between the Celtics and Hawks on Sunday. Here’s video of his unbelievably idiotic play in the final minute of the game:

Rondo was automatically ejected per NBA rules because he made contact with a referee. Now he’s facing a possible suspension for the play. Given his history — he was suspended two games in February for chucking a ball at a ref — it wouldn’t be surprising to see him suspended again.

The NBA’s decision is based on intent. Rondo tried to brush aside the notion that he bumped referee Marc Davis on purpose.

“As I was walking, I thought he stopped, my momentum carried me into him,” Rondo said after the game. “I even think I tripped on his foot. I didn’t intentionally chest bump him.”

Even Celtics fans can’t deny that Rondo’s intent to bump the ref was clear. The only thing worse than an undisciplined player is a lying undisciplined player. Come on Rondo, your team needs you. You can’t make stupid moves like this during the playoffs.
