Ray Allen leaning towards signing with Cavs over retirement
The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn tweeted the news on Wednesday night, saying Allen is “leaning towards” returning for his 19th season.
Allen turned 39 this week, but he keeps himself in phenomenal shape and has averaged around 26 minutes per game each of the past two seasons, so we have little doubts about his physical ability to continue playing.
The expectation all along has been that Allen would go wherever LeBron chose to go in free agency, so this does not come as a surprise. If he does sign with Cleveland, that would mean the Cavaliers have added James Jones, Mike Miller and Allen — all three of whom are favorite teammates of James from Miami.
