Reggie Miller rips LaVar Ball, says Lakers should threaten Lonzo trade to shut him up

LaVar Ball Lakers

Reggie Miller thinks that the Los Angeles Lakers should take some drastic measures to address their LaVar Ball problem.

Appearing Tuesday on “The Dan Patrick Show,” the retired Indiana Pacers great-turned-TNT analyst tore into the Ball family patriarch and his sons.

“I hope he’s enjoying his European vacation, and his sons are enjoying playing in Lithuania, because those two, in my opinion, have no shot at playing in the NBA,” said Miller, via the Indy Star’s Dakota Crawford. “And if he continues to open his mouth, all three of those boys are going to be playing overseas. No coach, general manager or owner are going to want to put up with the dad.”

Miller also called on Lakers president Magic Johnson to step in and put an end to LaVar’s loudmouthed shenanigans once and for all.

“This is a chance for Magic Johnson to absolutely put his foot down and put an end to this,” he added. “He could really destroy LaVar if he really wanted to. I’d go close to almost threatening, ‘If you keep opening your mouth, we are going to trade your son from the Lakers.’ It’s one of two things: Shut up, fall in line, let Luke [Walton] do what he wants to do and let Lonzo play how he wants to play, or we’ll start taking calls. Magic Johnson has to say that.”

LaVar’s most recent criticisms of Walton’s coaching have definitely been troublesome. But it seems the Lakers are more concerned about the effect that all the drama could potentially have on Lonzo. Threatening to trade their star rookie would obviously be an extreme course of action, but at this point, venturing into the extreme may be the only way to deal with LaVar’s antics.
