The Oklahoma City Thunder have agreed to a deal that will send Carmelo Anthony to the Atlanta Hawks, but the star forward won’t be spending any time with his new team.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Thunder have traded Anthony and a 2022 first-round pick in exchange for veteran point guard Dennis Schroder and big man Mike Muscala. The Hawks plan to waive Anthony, and the Houston Rockets are still the favorite to sign him.

Sources: Muscala ($5M) is likely headed for a third team in near future. OKC GM Sam Presti and coach Billy Donovan were given permission to talk with Schroder, and they're enthusiastic about partnership. OKC wants more speed, another ball handler. https://t.co/VibPPXzlBW

Schroder averaged 19.4 points and 6.2 assists per game in Atlanta last season. It’s no surprise he was traded after the Hawks drafted point guard Trae Young in the first round, and Schroder was reportedly looking to be dealt.
Numerous reports have indicated that the Rockets want to sign Anthony, and one star player has been pushing for it to happen.
