Report: Rockets will aggressively pursue Paul George this summer

Paul George

The Houston Rockets came within just one win of the NBA Finals this season, and their hunger may only be intensifying from here.

During ESPN’s “NBA Draft: On the Clock” special on Tuesday, star basketball reporter Adrian Wojnarowski spoke on Paul George’s impending free agency this summer. Wojnarowski said that the Oklahoma City Thunder have a “real opportunity” to keep George but noted that the Rockets would “be aggressive” in trying to find a way to sign him, per Brett Dawson of the Oklahoman.

Granted, the Rockets will have several other priorities on their agenda this offseason — Chris Paul, Trevor Ariza, and Luc Mbah a Moute are set to be unrestricted free agents while Clint Capela will be a restricted free agent.

As for George, he obviously has the long-range flair and defensive versatility that Houston craves out of their core players. But it remains to be seen if they are a better option than another contender the All-Star forward is also eyeing.
