Report: Key Rockets star pushing for Carmelo Anthony acquisition
It’s no real surprise that one of Carmelo Anthony’s close friends is pushing his team to sign him, but it’s not LeBron James.
According to Jordan Schultz of Yahoo Sports, Houston Rockets point guard Chris Paul is urging his team to try to acquire Anthony, as the two players are known to be very close.
Source close to Chris Paul tells me that CP3 is advocating for the #Rockets to acquire his good friend, Carmelo Anthony. Melo, 34, made a career-high 169 3-pointers last season on a career-high 474 attempts (35.7 percent). https://t.co/C8LT4rSpFF

As Schultz notes, Anthony also wants to play with James, but the Lakers’ level of interest isn’t clear at this point. There are also questions as to what sort of role Anthony will have, or be willing to accept. That could ultimately determine his destination. He won’t have any shortage of friends who would be happy to play with him, though.
