Rockets’ Zhou Qi cracks funny joke about mispronunciation of his name
Zhou Qi may not be a household name yet, but he’s getting there … kind of.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, the Houston Rockets big man had a funny joke about an evidently common mispronunciation of his name: “Joe Cheese.”
The 22-year-old Qi, who was the Rockets’ second-round pick in 2016, averaged just 1.2 points and 1.2 rebounds in 6.9 minutes per game for them last season. However, he has managed a healthy 12.0 points and 6.5 rebounds a game in 2018 Summer League play and could be in line for a bigger role in the near future with the current uncertainty over Clint Capela’s situation.
As for “Joe Cheese,” it’s obviously a hilariously bad butchering of Qi’s name. But maybe putting a Joe Cheese-inspired dish on the menu will be what saves this failing Houston restaurant.
